Emaciated bald eagle among victims of Storm Beryl at Houston SPCA wildlife center | Community

More than 1,600 wild animals rescued or brought to the center since Hurricane Beryl

An emaciated bald eagle is among the latest storm victims to be taken into care by the Houston SPCA Wildlife Center. The U.S. national bird arrived Wednesday emaciated and suffering from external parasites. He is currently receiving fluids and is under the care of a veterinarian and wildlife staff.

Since Hurricane Beryl made landfall on July 8, more than 1,600 native wildlife have been brought to their campus, including egrets, Mississippi kites, doves, squirrels, songbirds and more.

On Monday, after Beryl made landfall in Texas, the Houston SPCA Wildlife Center responded to hundreds of injured and orphaned egrets; 353 of them were brought back to campus for treatment and rehabilitation.
