Tampin police arrest man for repeatedly raping his daughter since 2019

TAMPIN: Police have arrested a 52-year-old man in nearby Gemencheh for allegedly raping his daughter, who continued the rape after she became pregnant and gave birth.

District police chief Supt. Amiruddien Sariman said the man was arrested on Sunday (July 14) based on a complaint filed by the victim’s aunt.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was first raped in 2019, when she was 20 years old, and that the assaults continued until July this year.

“A police investigation also revealed that the victim gave birth to a baby girl who is now four years old,” he said.

Superintendent Amiruddien said the victim did not file a report because she was concerned for her safety.

He said police had obtained an arrest warrant to remand the suspect in custody for seven days.

The case is being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for rape. If convicted, the sentence is between 10 and 30 years in prison and can be punished with flogging.
