Emergency alert in Ruidoso; landslides possible in Upper Canyon

An emergency warning is in effect in the Village of Ruidoso as flash flooding is expected in the Upper Canyon area on Wednesday.Residents living in or near Upper Canyon are asked to immediately evacuate their homes and seek higher ground. An emergency shelter has been set up at the White Mountain Relief Center at 687 Hull Road.The National Weather Service is predicting flooding in the following areas: Gavilan Canyon, Lower Eagle Creek, Alpine Valley and Ski Run Road. Flooding is also expected in Ruidoso Downs and Glencoe.Rain in the Ruidoso area is expected to cause flash flooding, mudslides and landslides on Wednesday afternoon.
