Vermont firefighter found dead after responding to emergency call

HINESBURG, Vt. (WCAX) – The CVU boys basketball team will have a familiar face at the helm this winter, as former UVM star Ernie Duncan told Channel 3 Sports he has been hired as the Redhawks’ new head coach. Duncan was the Catamounts’ star from 2014-19, helping Vermont to two NCAA tournament appearances and amassing nearly 1,500 points in his career. At 41.9%, Duncan is still the school’s all-time leading three-point shooting defender. The Evansville, Indiana native stayed in the Burlington area after graduating and watched younger brothers Everett and Robin carry on the family legacy at the Catamounts, running camps and workouts for young basketball players in Vermont. CVU is a tall order for a first-time high school head coach: The Redhawks have reached each of the last five D1 Final Fours and won the school’s first boys state championship in 2023.
