Russia was attacked by black-painted Bober drones

Facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation were attacked by black-painted Bober drones.

Local Telegram channels published the drone footage.

On the morning of July 9, Ukrainian Bober combat drones were spotted in the skies over the Russian region of Astrakhan. According to preliminary information, they may have attacked a military training area and an airfield there.

One of the drones landed in the field, presumably due to a technical malfunction. Photos taken by local residents show that the drone is painted with black, light-absorbing paint.

The solution of painting the fuselages of combat drones with black paint is not new and has already been used by the Russian military to camouflage its Shahed-136 drones in the night sky.

However, it is unclear why Ukrainian drones modified for night attacks were also used in daylight, when their black profile creates a strong contrast and increases the likelihood of being shot down.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense forces intercepted a total of five drones during the attack in the Astrakhan region. Locals also reported that one of the drones was shot down in the air.

It was also reported that due to the air strike in Russia, operations at the airports of Astrakhan and neighboring Volgograd regions were suspended from 4:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

On the same day, attack drones attacked an oil depot in Kalach-on-Don in Russia’s Volgograd region.

According to eyewitnesses from the area, around 10 explosions were heard in the city at around 4 a.m. A fire then broke out in the area of the oil depot, and a black column of smoke and a powerful fire were visible from far away.
