One dead, another arrested for murder after shooting near Bogalusa

BOGALUSA – One person is dead and another has been arrested following a shooting near Bogalusa, according to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On July 5 at approximately 8:15 a.m., WPSO responded to a call about a dead man found behind his home in the 1200 block of South Choctaw Road. Initial investigation revealed that Lark Starnes, 62, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Police identified Clois Clifton Blackledge III as a suspect and eventually found him at the intersection of Highway 21 and Mitchell Road walking along Highway 21. Blackledge was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

The investigation is ongoing.
