67-year-old man allegedly lured and raped two girls in Bauchi — National Accord Newspaper

A 67-year-old man was arrested by police in Bauchi for allegedly raping two girls after luring them with 500 naira.

The suspect, Bala Mohammed, allegedly lured the girls into his room and allegedly had sexual intercourse with them without their consent.

Bauchi State Police Spokesman Ahmed Wakil made this known in a statement made available to journalists in the state on Thursday evening.

Wakil, a police commissioner, said the parents of the victims reported the incident to the Division A police headquarters in Bauchi.

He said the girls claimed the suspect raped them up to five times.

“On 22nd June 2024 at about 3:00pm, one Abubakar Danladi, male, 43 years old, and one Umar Ismail, male, 65 years old, of Mahaukata Bauchi, reported to the A’ Division Headquarters that one Bala Mohammed ‘m’, 67 years old, lured their daughters, one Safiya (not her real name), 17 years old, and one Hassana (not her real name), 16 years old, both of the same address, into his room and had sexual intercourse with them and thereafter gave them Five Hundred Naira.

“The victims stated that he had known about them up to five times.

“During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and confirmed the victim’s statement,” he said.

According to him, the investigation is still ongoing. After that, a profile of the suspect will be created and he will be brought to court.

Likewise, the PPRO said the police also received a report on Thursday of the alleged rape of a nine-year-old girl living behind Nitel Office in Bauchi.

According to him, the girl’s mother reported the incident to the police, claiming that the suspect, a certain Suleiman Musa, a 28-year-old who lives at the same address, lured and raped her daughter while she was running an errand.

He said: “On July 4, 2024, at about 12 noon, one Hajiya (not her real name), female, from Behind Nitel office, Bauchi, reported to the A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Bauchi that on the same day at about 11.50am, one Suleiman Musa, male, 28 years old, of same address, lured her daughter, one Amina (not her real name), 9 years old, of same address, to his room in the same area while she was out and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.”

Wakil said the suspect freely admitted to having committed the crime during interrogation, adding that investigations are still ongoing and that the suspect will be brought to court and charged with the offence found.
