First Alert Weather – Sunshine returns on Wednesday and Thursday, while the chance of rain increases

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Clouds will continue to clear throughout Wednesday as sunshine brings afternoon temperatures back down to the low 80s. A weak disturbance will slowly move into north central Wisconsin during the mid to late afternoon hours Wednesday, bringing a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms during the early evening hours. Rain chances will remain below 30% during the mid to late afternoon hours, and skies will quickly clear late Wednesday evening.

July 4th will begin dry on Thursday, with a warm front moving northward through central Wisconsin, bringing some showers and thunderstorms into the early evening hours.

Showers and thunderstorms will become more frequent throughout the evening as the warm front continues to push into northern Wisconsin. Although no severe weather is expected, the threat of lightning and wind gusts of up to 40 mph in the stronger storms will affect many fireworks displays in the area planned for Thursday evening.

Thursday’s storm system will settle over Wisconsin, so there will still be a good chance of showers and occasional thunderstorms Friday morning and afternoon. Due to the rain and thicker cloud cover, temperatures are unlikely to break the 70°F mark Friday afternoon.
