Woman, witness to her husband’s murder, attacked and killed | Lucknow News

LUCKNOW: A woman, who was a key witness in her husband’s murder, was attacked in Amethi last week and succumbed to her injuries in hospital on Monday.

Kanchan Singh, 44, was allegedly attacked by her husband’s killers on June 28 to prevent her from testifying against them in court.

In his FIR, Kanchan’s son Shivendra accused four people – Chandraprakash Singh, Vikram Singh, Dharampal Singh and Gyan Singh – of murdering his mother. The same men are accused of murdering Shivendra’s father Brijesh Singh.

The autopsy of Amethi SP Anup Singh Kanchan conducted by a panel of doctors did not find any injury as the cause of death. Her viscera were preserved for further examination.

Brijesh Singh was murdered outside Kanchan on January 27, 2021.

Shivendra claimed that the four accused attacked his mother on the afternoon of June 28. “Some locals alerted me and I rushed to the scene. The accused opened fire on me and fled. I took my mother to a local health centre where the doctors referred her to the district hospital,” Shivendra said.

After her father’s death, Kanchan Singh took care of her two sons Shivendra Pratap Singh (22) and Brijendra Pratap Singh (18).

Shivendra, 22, is doing his master’s degree while his brother Brijendra, 18, is completing his graduation. The siblings lived with their mother and grandfather Kamlesh Singh.
