Pedestrian dies in collision between two vehicles in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A pedestrian was killed after a two-vehicle collision in Phoenix on Wednesday, authorities said.

According to Phoenix police, the collision occurred around 9 p.m. near 40th Avenue and Camelback Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim with serious injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

The detectives who took over the investigation believed that the victim was not crossing in the crosswalk, but in the middle of Camelback Road when he was struck by two westbound vehicles.

Both vehicles involved in the accident remained at the scene. Impairment is not believed to have played a role in this collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
