After battling their stepfather who raped them, three underage siblings now battle HIV | News from India

HYDERABAD: The ordeal of three minor siblings from Chandanagar, who were repeatedly raped by their stepfather for over a month, is far from over. Although a special court in Pocso sentenced the accused to 20 years in prison on Thursday, the children still have another battle to fight – HIV, it is reported.

“Since the accused testified in court that he was HIV positive, the children were also tested. The results show that they are also HIV positive,” said an official associated with the investigation. While the two minor girls – aged 10 and 14 – live in a home in the city, the seven-year-old boy has been placed in another facility.

“All four – the accused and the survivors – are receiving medical attention,” the official added.

The crime first came to light two years ago when the survivors shared the traumatic experience with their neighbor, a 46-year-old woman.
