At a hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh, it was explained that Richford was still a teenager at the time of his crimes.

Judge Thomas Welsh KC heard how he repeatedly raped two of his victims and sexually assaulted all three complainants.

Richford was sentenced following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday 24 May 2024.

His sentence was announced at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday 24 June.

After the verdict was announced, Detective Inspector Russell Paton sentenced the rapist.

He said: “Richford was a violent man and will now face the consequences of his despicable crimes in prison.

“My thoughts are with these women who showed tremendous strength by speaking out and supporting our investigation.

“I hope this verdict will provide them with some consolation.

“If anyone is experiencing or has experienced violence or sexual abuse of any kind, we have investigators dedicated exclusively to investigating such crimes. Please report it.

“You can be assured that you will receive full support from officials and our partner agencies.”
