According to EPD, two men were arrested in connection with a violent attack

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Two men and a woman were arrested following a brutal attack Saturday night in Evansville.

According to an affidavit, officers were dispatched to the 110 block of E. Tennessee Street for a report of a robbery in progress. The caller reported that a man appeared on his porch covered in blood.

The victim reportedly lost consciousness and stopped breathing for several minutes. He was taken to Deaconess Midtown Emergency Room, where a CT scan showed severe head trauma.

According to the EPD, surveillance footage from several locations shows the incident and what happened before and after it.

At around 10:15 p.m., an altercation occurred between the victim and an unknown man at a Sunoco gas station on East Louisiana Street.

According to police, the video showed the man, later identified as Cade Kirk, and another man, Charles Miles, attempting to murder him.

The affidavit states that the victim ran away and Miles allegedly got into a black Jeep belonging to Kirk.

According to EPD, the Jeep sped past the victim before turning onto East Tennessee Street and apparently waiting for the victim.

As the victim approached the intersection of N. Heidelbach and E. Tennessee, Kirk and Miles allegedly ran toward him, with Kirk allegedly pulling an unknown object from his waistband.

The affidavit states Miles attacked first, striking the victim in the head before both Miles and Kirk allegedly began violently hitting the victim repeatedly for approximately 30 seconds or more before returning to the Jeep.

Surveillance video also identified a third suspect in the case, Samantha Chase.

EPD went to Chase’s address and ordered everyone out, including Chase, Kirk and Miles.

During their interview, police said they learned that Chase and Kirk were in a relationship and that Miles lived with them on Morton Avenue.

Chase claimed she saw the victim at the gas station and spoke to him briefly while they were waiting in line. She also claimed the victim had a previous relationship with Miles’ wife.

Kirk claimed he did not know the victim and did not know why Miles tried to fight with him outside the gas station. According to EPD, Kirk changed his story a few times before admitting to hitting the victim in the head. EPD also says when Kirk was taken into custody, he had brass knuckles on him, but Kirk denied using them.

Miles claimed that the victim sent inappropriate nude photos of herself to his wife, which made him very upset. He also said he remembered walking up to the victim and falling, but could not remember what happened afterward. Miles allegedly went on to say that he “passed out” and did not know what happened after they left the gas station.

According to EPD, at the time the affidavit was prepared, the victim was in the intensive care unit, unconscious, unresponsive and unable to breathe on his own. He is not expected to survive.

Officials say the charge could be upgraded to murder if the victim actually dies.

Booking records show Chase has since been released from jail on bond. According to EPD, she was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant.
