LifeFlight brings woman back by plane after car accident

Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew airlifted a woman to hospital this morning after she was injured in a solo accident.

The rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene of the accident in the Somerset region at 9:15 a.m. (Saturday, June 22) and the pilot was able to land near the scene of the accident.

It is believed that the vehicle hit a power pole and came to a stop in a ditch, injuring the only occupant.

RACQ LifeFlight’s critical care physician and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedic treated the patient along with local QAS paramedics.

A patient in her 40s suffered severe head injuries and was flown by helicopter to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

On behalf of Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew carried out this operation as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to provide aeronautical medical care to the community.
