One dead and four injured in drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale – NBC 6 South Florida

According to Fort Lauderdale police, a shooting in the 2300 block of Northwest 8th Street at around 7:10 p.m. on Friday left one person dead and four people seriously injured.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found five victims, all with life-threatening injuries. The victims were rushed to Broward Health Medical Center, where one of them was pronounced dead.

People in the Franklin Park community say they heard nothing except the sound of gunshots Friday night.

“About 40 shots, I heard about 40 shots,” one woman said.

A woman did not want to appear on camera, but said she knew the five men who were shot.

“It’s hurtful because these are people you know,” she said. “We’re tired of crying. You don’t have to be family to love someone. It’s sad.”

She says she was just a few feet away from them when she heard the shots and saw people running away.

“I jumped up and ran in that direction. What the hell, I was supposed to stay right here. I don’t know where I was running, but I wanted to get out of here as fast as possible,” she said.

The woman says she has lived in the community for 18 years and crime has gotten worse. Although she is not shocked, she wants something to change.

“Let’s all get along,” she said.

Fort Lauderdale police said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Authorities are asking the public for cooperation to obtain further details about the incident and the identities of the suspects involved.

“Anyone with information about this shooting or who can identify those responsible should contact Fort Lauderdale Police immediately,” said FLPD spokesman Ali Adamson.
