According to Eastlake Fire Chief Ted Whittington, the family was mixing pool chemicals in the kitchen and accidentally caused a bad reaction.

When the fire department arrived, the family was already outside and was spraying everyone down with a garden hose.

Three people were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center and two others were taken to local hospitals for burning eyes and difficulty breathing. The fire chief said he believes all are currently in stable condition.

At the time of the response, there were 11 people in the house. The remaining family members showed no symptoms, the fire chief said.

A hazmat team was also called to the scene of the fire to conduct tests on the house and surrounding homes. Fire officials say there is no danger to the neighborhood and no evacuations have been ordered.

The incident is currently still under investigation.
