Ryan Garcia arrested: Latest details, updates after boxer charged with vandalism at Beverly Hills hotel

Ryan Garcia was arrested on vandalism charges Saturday after the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills accused Garcia of causing $15,000 in damage to their hotel.

Garcia “trashed his room and the hallway of the hotel,” law enforcement sources told TMZ. The newspaper also published a short video of Garcia’s arrest, but it only showed the boxer being escorted out of the hotel.

The video, which shows Garcia shirtless and with a layer over his head, can be seen below.

Garcia’s arrest is the latest in a series of problems the 25-year-old has endured in recent months. Ahead of his April fight against Devin Haney, he displayed erratic behavior on social media and also failed to make the required weight for it.

Garcia won the fight against Haney, but later tested positive for a banned substance and is in danger of having his victory annulled.

Here’s everything you need to know about Garcia’s most recent incident, his arrest at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.

Garcia was arrested on charges of vandalism at 5:45 p.m. local time on Saturday, Beverly Hills police told ESPN.

A driver who dropped Garcia off at the hotel initially called the police. The hotel decided to press charges when police officers arrived.

Police could not immediately determine the exact nature of the damage, but according to TMZ, Garcia “trashed his room and the hallway of the hotel,” leading to the vandalism charge.

However, according to ESPN, Garcia’s attorney Darin Chavez announced that Garcia may also face public intoxication charges.

Chavez also addressed concerns about Garcia’s mental health, noting in a statement that Garcia’s arrest comes “at an extremely difficult time for Ryan as he grapples with devastating news about his mother’s health.”

“Ryan has spoken openly about his mental health struggles over the years and is currently dealing with tremendous emotional distress,” Chavez said in his statement. “The support and understanding of fans and the public is critical as he navigates these personal challenges.”

“We are working diligently to provide Ryan with the resources he needs. Our team is committed to ensuring he receives the appropriate help and care to ensure both his immediate and long-term well-being. We ask for your continued support and compassion as Ryan focuses on his family and health at this time.”

Garcia was booked into the Beverly Hills Police Department jail on Saturday but was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for evaluation and treatment after complaining of a medical issue.

According to the Kann California Law Group, vandalism is a serious violation under California law punishable by up to three years in prison, a fine of up to $50,000, or a combination of both.
