Caregiver who attacked a colleague at the Christmas party and was then arrested received a warning

A support employee received a warning after attacking a colleague during the company Christmas party.

Leeanne Allen was employed as a carer at Community Lifestyles in Glasgow in December 2021 when the incident occurred at a residential party.

It was found that Allen punched a colleague in the face and head and grabbed her by the hair. She was subsequently arrested and fined.

The conduct resulted in the victim being harmed “physically and emotionally.”

Allen was reported to the Scottish Social Services Council, who found that Allen had been “drinking excessively and mixing alcoholic drinks”, resulting in actions that showed a “lack of control”.

Their report continues: “They behaved violently and
Colleague.

“You have not assured the SSSC that you understand and regret the impact of your conduct on your colleague.”

The SSSC decided to allow Allen to continue working in the profession but imposed a twelve-month suspension of her registration.
