A man was killed after a shooting in Tulsa on Saturday.

Tulsa police said the call about the shooting came in at 10:35 a.m. from the 1200 block of Vandalia Avenue, near Pine and Yale.

According to the police report, emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident and began life-saving measures for the victim, who later died in the hospital.

Police report that an altercation ensued between the shooter and the victim, during which shots were fired. They do not believe the two parties knew each other prior to the shooting.

TPD believes the victim was with a third person during the shooting and is still searching for that person.

Lt. Brandon Watkins of the Tulsa Police Department’s homicide unit said they were working to gather information from nearby witnesses.

“We have a lot of witnesses here and there are language barriers with some of them, so it’s going to take a while to figure out exactly what happened,” said Lt. Watkins. “Something like this can happen anywhere, anytime. It’s unlikely to happen in a place like this, but it happens nonetheless.”

The victim’s name will not be released until the family can be notified.
