‘Okay with rape or murder’? Kangana Ranaut attacks those who justify slapping

BJP MP from Mandi in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut, on Saturday lashed out at those who justified her slap.

The actress-turned-politician said in her post on X: “Remember: If you don’t have a problem with penetrating a person’s private parts, touching and assaulting their body without their permission, then you basically have no problem with rape or murder.”

“Every rapist, murderer or thief always has a strong emotional, physical, psychological or financial reason to commit a crime. No crime happens without a reason and still they are convicted and sentenced to prison. If you agree with the criminal’s strong emotional impulse to commit a crime that violates all the laws of the land, then remember this: if you have no problem penetrating a person’s private parts, touching and attacking their body without their permission, then deep down you have no problem with rape or murder either because that is also just penetration or stabbing, so what. You need to look deeper into your psychological criminal tendencies. I suggest you please start yoga and meditation otherwise life will become a bitter and burdensome experience. Please do not carry so much resentment, hatred and jealousy, free yourself,” her full post reads.

Ranaut was slapped at the Chandigarh airport by a CISF officer who later claimed that she was disturbed by Kangana’s comments during the farmers’ protest, in which her mother said she was a participant.

Kulwinder Kaur, the woman who hit Kangana, was charged but remained defiant, saying she would “sacrifice 1,000 jobs for her mother’s respect.”

Farmers’ associations have now spoken out in support of the CISF employees. Singer and songwriter Vishal Dadlani is also said to have offered Kaur a job if she needs one.

On Saturday, actress Shabana Azmi spoke out in support of Kangana, saying that security forces should not take the law into their own hands. Her remarks came after Kangana shared a post slamming those in Bollywood who remained silent on the incident. However, she later deleted the post.
