Pittsburgh Steelers CB Cam Sutton breaks silence on domestic violence incident

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed cornerback Cam Sutton after he was released by the Detroit Lions last April following his arrest for assault.

A warrant was issued for Sutton’s arrest following an alleged incident between Sutton and his girlfriend. The warrant was originally for third-degree strangulation, but was reduced to a misdemeanor. WPIX’s Jenna Harner at Steelers OTAs asked Sutton what his message to fans was about the situation.

“It’s a world based on opinions,” Sutton said. “Everyone is operating on the basis of not knowing but feeling like someone is there or that they can speak. It’s give and take, however it turns out. My job is not to please anyone else. My job is to be the best version of myself and how I show that to the masses or everyone around me. I have complete control over that. I never worry about a narrative.

“I never worry about what people say because they probably don’t know me any better than anyone else. You know what I mean? And again, it’s about your foundation, your morals, who you are as a person and what you stand for. I hold my head up high. Again, everyone experiences adversity. Everyone experiences things in their life that can go either way. So it’s about how you feel about it and what you make of it. And like I said, I’m ready to keep moving in the right direction. Everything else will fall into place and we’ll just go from there.”

Sutton is expected to face a suspension from the NFL, but the timetable for this has not yet been determined.
