A man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a homeless woman during a nighttime outing and filming the attack.

Liam Stimpson, 24, of Llanrumney, Cardiff, was found guilty on Thursday of two counts of rape and one count of inducing a person to engage in sexual acts without their consent.

The attack on the 40-year-old, which Stimpson filmed with his mobile phone, occurred in Cardiff city centre on December 27 last year.

Sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, Judge Jeremy Jenkins said the attack was “unprovoked, repeated and sustained violence against a woman who was unable to defend herself”.

“You have completely humiliated her – you have stripped her of every last shred of dignity,” Judge Jenkins told Stimpson, describing the attack as “bordering on sadism.”

In a statement read on her behalf, the victim said it had “changed my whole opinion about men”.

“I want this man to go to prison for what he did. I’m worried he will do this to another woman,” she said.

“I can’t socialize at the moment. I just want to be alone and forget what happened to me.”

Rhianydd Jones, prosecuting, said the case “highlights the extreme violence and disregard for human dignity displayed by the defendant”. She thanked the jury for their “careful consideration” and the victim for coming forward.

A jury had already found Stimpson guilty on another count of intentional grievous bodily harm.

Stimpson denied the allegations and claimed the woman suggested the filming as part of a role play after he paid her for oral sex.

Stimpson’s victim was punched and kicked during the attack in the early hours of the morning under a bridge near Cardiff Central station.

She begged her attacker to stop while she was stripped naked, beaten and raped twice.

In videos from Stimpson’s cellphone, the woman’s face was severely swollen and bleeding, and her right eye was completely closed.

She raised her hands to her attacker and said, “Don’t hit me, baby, please don’t hit me. I have children.”

Stimpson was heard to reply: “I’ll tell you what to do. I’m the boss.”

He then asked her to take off her coat despite the cold and wet weather.
