At the beginning of June, dry skies and sunshine prevail

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Happy Saturday! The first weekend of June brings plenty of dry season and sunshine to the Cape Fear. Rain chances are 0% on Saturday and 10% on Sunday. Highs are expected to be between 80 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit, with nighttime lows of 59 degrees Fahrenheit. Area beaches will continue to have a low to moderate surf hazard with 75-degree surf. Remember to apply plenty of sunscreen!

As the new work week begins, rain chances, humidity and temperatures will increase. Rain and storm chances will also increase again early next week, with the risk even higher later in the week.

June 1 marks the beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season. As things stand, no new storms are expected to form within the next week.
