BREAKING NEWS: Man arrested in connection with beating of elderly man during burglary in Rimersburg area

MADISON TWP., Pennsylvania (EYT) — State police have arrested a local man who they say seriously injured an elderly man during a burglary in the Rimersburg area.

State Police in Clarion reported that officers were dispatched to a residence in Madison Township, Clarion County, after receiving a report of an assault in progress around 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21.

The victim, a 78-year-old man, was discovered by arriving police officers and was suffering from severe bodily injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the previous night, unknown persons had violently entered the victim’s house and attacked him.

According to a report published on Friday, May 31, an investigation found that the 31-year-old Tyler Scott Wyantfrom Parker, was involved in this incident.

Wyant was arrested on Thursday, May 30, and arraigned at 6:00 p.m. before District Judge Timothy P. Schill on the following charges:

  • Burglary – overnight theft, person present, assault, crime 1
  • Conspiracy – robbery – causing grievous bodily harm, crime 1
  • Conspiracy – Burglary – Overnight stay; person present, assault, crime 1
  • Conspiracy – theft by unauthorized removal – movable property, offence 1
  • Conspiracy – serious bodily harm – attempted or caused abuse with a deadly weapon, offense 2
  • Theft by unauthorized removal – movable property, criminal offence 2
  • Robbery – theft of property through other crimes/violence, crime 3

Since he was unable to raise the $100,000.00 bail, he was placed in the Clarion County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 11 at 11:30 a.m. with Judge Schill presiding.

According to PSP Clarion, further fees are expected.

Further details of the crime will be provided upon receipt of a criminal complaint.
