BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Today’s forecast: We’ve seen a slightly more active pattern over the last few days, and that continues into today. A nearly stationary front stretching across the area will combine with subtle upper-level disturbances to produce scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms through this afternoon.

The probability of rain today is 50-60%, and maximum temperatures are expected to be between 30 and 32 degrees.

Weekend outlook

The pattern will remain largely unchanged as we finish May and move into the first weekend of June. Mostly dry days in the morning will give way to scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon hours. Maximum temperatures will continue to be between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius.

The high pressure system to the south will again attempt to move northward early next week. The end result should be a trend toward slightly drier and hotter weather returning next week. Rain chances will drop to 20-30%, with highs rising to 35-40 degrees.
