Man arrested after violent incident in Bismarck apartment

BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) — A man is in jail after police say he attacked and threatened people at an apartment complex.

According to police, the incident occurred last week at an apartment on Arbor Avenue in Bismarck when a couple told Carlton Hill he had to leave. Witnesses told police Hill became angry, pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot everyone.

A witness told an officer that Hill had left the building but returned to the building 10 minutes later. A woman doing laundry in the hallway got in Hill’s way and tried to stop him, but officers said Hill hit her in the head with his gun.

The next day, a Bismarck police officer investigated the case and recognized Hill in an apartment on Boulevard Avenue. Hill admitted to having a gun and was arrested.

Hill is charged with five felonies, including terrorizing, aggravated assault and illegal possession of a firearm. He appeared in court Friday, where a judge set his bail at $50,000. He will have a preliminary hearing next month.
