FORECAST discussion:

Good Tuesday afternoon,

A line of storms and showers will move across central Ohio as we head into the remainder of the late afternoon and evening hours. As today continues, there is still a chance that some of the storms could develop into strong to severe storms.

Rain showers and storms will continue to increase as the evening progresses. A line of showers will move through the area this afternoon, but the atmosphere behind them will begin to recharge quickly, still providing the potential for severe weather. More showers and storms are on the way this evening.

A better time for potentially stronger weather is closer to 6:00 p.m. and lasting until midnight. The current severe rating for central Ohio remains at a threat level of 3/5 for Columbus and areas to the west. For the rest of us, a level 2/5 threat remains.

The primary threats will be strong to damaging winds and hail. The hail could reach the size of a neighborhood, and there is a chance we could see even larger hail west of the city. There is an isolated chance of seeing a few spinning tornadoes. The increased risk for tornadoes continues west of the city but is still possible for most of central Ohio.

After midnight the sky begins to dry. Clouds and sunshine will mix throughout the day and temperatures will fall back into the lower 80s. There is a chance that the weather will become stronger again towards the evening and overnight hours on Wednesday.

Rain chances remain low for the rest of the work week and temperatures will begin to cool. We will stay in the mid to upper 60s through the weekend with a chance of a scattered shower.
