Good Samaritan killed in hit-and-run after stopping to help victim of previous crash on I-10 near McDuff Ave.

DUVAL COUNTY, Florida. – A 23-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday on Interstate 10 west of McDuff Avenue after he stopped to help a driver who was involved in an earlier crash and also died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, around 2 a.m., a 31-year-old man driving an SUV left the roadway and struck the concrete barrier on the left side. The SUV then rolled over and entered the middle lane of the highway, where it struck the concrete barrier again.

According to FHP, the 31-year-old driver died at the scene of the accident.

Then, at around 2:09 a.m., a Good Samaritan stopped to help the man involved in the previous accident, and as he was getting out of his car, he was hit by another car.

According to FHP, the car then hit the concrete barriers on both the right and left shoulders.

Police said the driver got out of his car after the accident and fled the scene.

The Good Samaritan, a 23-year-old man from Jacksonville, died at the scene of the accident, according to FHP.
