Police need help identifying the suspect in an animal cruelty incident

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in identifying a person involved in an animal cruelty incident in Standish. On May 18, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an abandoned animal in the parking lot of Bonny Eagle High School. A 6-month-old kitten was found in a plastic bag with the lid on. The kitten was alive but hypothermic and frightened. The kitten was immediately taken to a local veterinarian, but officials say it had to be euthanized because there were other issues directly related to its lack of care. The suspect in this case is described as a white, heavyset male who was last seen wearing an orange shirt, baseball cap and jeans. The suspect’s car is a white Chevrolet 2500 with a black tailgate and snow plow package. Officers say the suspect’s vehicle is likely from the Standish, Buxton or Hollis area. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lieutenant James Estabrook at [email protected].
