Trump attacks Joe Biden’s economic policies… because of Snickers Bars

Before the In next month’s first presidential debate, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump is already rigorously fact-checking President Joe Biden’s economic policies — as it relates to Snickers candy bars.

In a post on his failing social media company Truth Social on Friday evening, Trump addressed Biden’s claim that Snickers would be made smaller but be the same price due to inflation.

“Incredibly, Crooked Joe went on TV last week and announced in an interview that Americans can actually afford his brutal inflation tax,” Trump wrote. “He declared that families “have the money to spend,” and then Biden blamed his economic disaster on companies that reduced the size of their Snickers bars.”

The claim Trump is referring to was made by Biden during an interview with Erin Burnett on CNN earlier this month, in which Biden said: “Yeah, right, for example at the Snickers bar, they did something, and it are about 20 percent less.” for the same price. This is corporate greed. And we have to deal with it. And that’s what I’m working on.”

Biden had previously mentioned this claim in his State of the Union address this year as an example of so-called “shrinkflation” – that is, companies charging the same or higher prices for smaller or fewer goods.

Trump did not take this example well.

“But Americans aren’t having trouble making ends meet because they buy TOO MANY SNICKERS BARS,” Trump continued. “They are fighting because we have the worst, most incompetent and most corrupt president in the history of our country!”

Trump is not the only one upset about the Snickers slander; Mars Inc., maker of Snickers, issued a statement after the State of the Union to refute Biden’s claims.

“We have not reduced the size of Snickers singles or the share size in the US… Final pricing is always at the retailer’s discretion, but we make every effort to minimize costs to offer a full range of delicious products,” it said it in the statement.

The Biden-Harris campaign did not immediately respond Rolling Stone‘s request for comment on Trump’s claim or Mars’ response to the State of the Union address.

Maybe if everyone involved just had a Snickers bar themselves, everyone would calm down.
