Man is attacked at a car boot sale near Sutton Coldfield as police try to identify three people

A man suffered a serious head injury after being attacked at a flea market. Police are looking for three men believed to have been involved in the incident.

Warwickshire Police said the serious assault occurred at 8.45am today, Sunday May 12, at the Haunch Lane car boot sale in Lea Marston, near Sutton Coldfield. Police said a 42-year-old man was reportedly struck in the head.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition. The police are asking witnesses to come forward.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Michael Brennen, said: “This was a serious incident in which the victim suffered a serious head injury. Although there have been no arrests, an investigation is ongoing to identify three men believed to have been involved.

“We know there were many people at this car boot sale this morning who may have witnessed the incident and I would urge them to get in touch with us as they may have important information that will assist in our investigation could be.

“It is believed the suspects left in a vehicle, so I would also appeal to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the vehicle exiting the boot.”

Witnesses and anyone with information are asked to call the emergency number 101 or report it to us via the police website, quoting incident number 108 of May 12, 2024. Information can also be shared anonymously with the independent charity Crimestoppers via their website or on 0800 555 111.
