Several shots fired in a house in the southwest of Redmond trigger an alarm for the police. Suspect was arrested three hours later

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A caller reported multiple shots were fired at a home in southwest Redmond, prompting numerous police officers to respond to the neighborhood, and while the caller took the gun with him, the possibility of other weapons being in the area led to the caller taking the gun with him house, leading to a three-hour standoff and neighborhood alert before his arrest.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of Southwest Pumice Place after receiving a call that multiple shots had been fired at the home. The caller said they took the gun away from the 59-year-old man before he left the house, but he may still have access to other weapons in the house, Redmond police Lt. Curtis Chambers said.

As a result, Redmond officers, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies, Oregon State Police troopers and members of the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team responded to the scene, Chambers said.

Approximately three hours later, the suspect was safely taken into custody on multiple charges including menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and recklessly endangering another person.

The man received medical care while the investigation continued. Chambers said he would later be taken to the county jail in Bend.

Chambers said more information is not expected to be released until after the weekend. NewsChannel 21’s policy is not to name arrested suspects until formal charges are filed.

“The Redmond Police Department would like to thank our partner agencies, the CERT team, Deschutes County 911, Redmond Public Works and all residents affected by the incident,” Chambers added.

The alert about the incident, intended only for residents in the immediate area, was mistakenly sent to Deschutes Alerts recipients throughout Deschutes County on Friday evening.

The Redmond Police Department’s alert, sent out just after 7 p.m., was scheduled to be sent to an area of ​​Southwest Pumice Place and 27thTh Street.

“Police responded to an ongoing emergency and are currently actively investigating,” the statement said.

A warning message was then sent out, pointing out the much smaller designated area and informing other recipients of the warning that they could ignore the message. The shelter alert was lifted around 10 p.m
