Technician raped by childhood friend in Vanasthalipuram; woman raped in moving bus

Hyderabad: A software engineer was allegedly raped by two men, one of whom was her childhood friend, on the premises of Vanasthalipuram police station.

Gautham Reddy of Lecturers’ Colony in Hayat Nagar and one other person were involved in the crime, police said.

Case details

According to Vanasthalipuram ACP Kasi Reddy, the incident occurred when the victim was invited to a party by Gautham Reddy, her childhood friend.

On the evening of July 29, the victim and Gautham Reddy went to Bommarillu Grand Restaurant in Omkar Nagar, where they drank alcohol at the bar before going to a hotel room. The victim, who was already drunk, screamed when he regained consciousness and found another person with Gautham Reddy in the room.

When hotel staff heard their screams, they rushed into the room, whereupon the two men fled. Their relatives were informed based on the victim’s ID card, which was found in a pool of blood.

The hotel staff took her to a local hospital for treatment. The Vanasthalipuram police have registered the case and started investigation. Gautham Reddy and his accomplice are currently on the run.

Woman raped in moving bus

In another case, a woman was reportedly raped by the driver of a moving bus on the way from Nirmal to Prakasam.

She alleged that the driver stuffed a cloth in her mouth to muffle her screams. When the bus was near Medchal, she called the 100 number to inform the police about the incident.

The Hyderabad Police launched a search for the bus and managed to intercept and stop the vehicle when it entered the Osmania University premises. Following the incident, the police arrested two drivers who worked for a private travel company.
