Long-suspended driver faces drunkenness and drug charges after traffic stop

A man is facing drunk driving and drug charges after he was stopped for driving with his high beams on in Orillia on Thursday night.

Just after 10 p.m., Orillia OPP officers were patrolling the area of ​​Coldwater Road and Emily Street when they encountered a vehicle with its high beams on. While police were conducting a traffic stop, the vehicle struck the curb, a news release said. Police determined the driver was impaired and had not been licensed to drive for 21 years.

Christopher Leduc, 46, of Victoria Harbour, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, failure to comply or refuse to comply with a request, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine).
