Pedestrian dead after collision with Metro Transit train in St. Paul

Metro Transit Police are investigating after a city train struck and killed a pedestrian in St. Paul on Tuesday.

Officials said they responded to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a westbound Green Line train near the intersection of University Avenue and Syndicate Street shortly after 3:30 p.m.

According to Metro Transit authorities, the person hit was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Until the accident site is cleared, trains will be replaced by buses between Fairview and Western Avenue stations.

Law enforcement authorities are currently investigating the incident.
