The development team behind the asymmetric online survival horror game Dead by daylight will make changes to improve the character menu and customization UI. The game’s update 8.1.0 was released on July 16. While the addition of Grave robbers‘s Lara Croft to Dread at DaylightNot only was the team roster the most attention-grabbing update of this update, but it also made some UI changes that were not well received by the player base in general.

However, following the release of update 8.1.0, custom characters are now spread out between all available characters, which has caused some fans to note that the cluttered character selection screen feels more like a DLC shop. The game’s social media team recently responded to a player’s criticism of this change on Twitter, stating that the developers plan to adjust the UI in the future and make changes based on collected player feedback. It also states that players will be notified of these upcoming UI changes once plans are finalized.


Fans aren’t happy with Dead by Daylight’s response to UI concerns


Changes to Dead by daylight are part of the roadmap for Year 9, and while a change to the game’s current UI seems to be something most fans want, the overall reaction to the social media post was not particularly positive. Most responses seem to focus on the vagueness of the statement, criticizing both the nonspecific “in the future” timeline and the lack of information on how the UI might change again. Several respondents seem to simply want the UI to return to the form it had before the 8.1.0 update, believing that everything was fine with the old UI.


The UI changes are not the only issue that has been criticized by the game’s player base recently. Right after the launch of the new update Dead by daylight announced increased DLC prices for PC, which will take effect on July 22. The change will increase the price of All Things Wicked, Sadako Rising, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Seen, silent HillAnd Dungeons and Dragons DLC by $1 each, with Behaviour Interactive stating that the price increase will help balance cross-platform progression on all available platforms except Nintendo Switch.
