Discussion | South Africa must suspend arms exports to military juntas

JOHANNESBURG – South Africa has been ordered to stop its arms exports to countries involved in coup attempts, war crimes and genocide.

The ruling by the High Court in Pretoria followed a 2022 application by the Southern Africa Litigation Centre.

In addition, the SALC called for a review and revocation of permits that allowed the transfer of weapons to war-torn Myanmar in Asia.
