Flight schedule returns to normal at Buffalo airport after global outage

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A major technology outage Friday morning delayed and canceled flights around the world, including at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, but by 10 a.m. operations were nearly back to normal.

Several flights scheduled to depart around 6 a.m. were delayed by three hours or more.

Several Delta Airlines flights were delayed by three hours or more. United Airlines had two flights scheduled to Washington Dulles Friday morning, one of which was delayed by three hours and the other was canceled.

“The flights were supposed to leave around 6:15,” said James Harrison of Houston, Texas. “It’s been delayed all day, I think I have a 3:15 flight this afternoon to Dulles.”

An airport spokeswoman is urging travellers to check in with their airline before arriving at the airport as stopovers could be affected.
