Woman killed in head-on collision during heavy rain in Woodbury

According to police, a woman in her 50s was killed in a head-on collision on Route 32 near Trout Brook Road in Woodbury on Wednesday evening during heavy rain.

Authorities said the woman was a passenger in a van driven by her husband. Her vehicle skidded on a curve and struck a pickup truck around 8:30 p.m., police said.

The woman suffered several broken bones and other serious injuries and was trapped in the vehicle, according to police. She is said to have succumbed to her injuries during rescue efforts.

According to police, her husband was also seriously injured and had been in an artificial coma since Thursday afternoon. He could not be informed of his wife’s death, so authorities are not releasing the woman’s name at this time.

According to police, the driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.
