Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers stated, “I want to thank our Detective Bureau, led by Trent Duda, for their diligent work on this investigation and our FIU, led by Brian Keenan, for their professionalism in arresting yet another dangerous suspect. A young girl and mother were shot. Thank God they are recovering. Several cars and homes were hit. The tragedy was averted, but at what cost? This is senseless violence coming from too many wrongdoers with illegal weapons and it is truly impacting our community. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to this epidemic of gun violence, but I know if we all work together, we can make our city safer and make these young men think twice before they pull the trigger.”

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states, “Here we go again. I am once again outraged that some of our judges and courts continue to fail to hold armed violent offenders accountable. Instead, they empower and encourage them to go out and commit more heinous crimes against my citizens. Again, the missing link is the justice system. We have a revolving door of repeat, violent, armed offenders who are not being held as they should be. These horrific crimes could be prevented. I continue to wonder what our court needs to do to take action and protect our community. I again call on some of our judges and courts to: 1. keep these repeat, armed violent offenders off our streets and out of our neighborhoods and schools and 2. our state legislature to pass my bail reform bill, graciously sponsored and reintroduced by State Rep. Angelo J. Puppolo.”
