Metro Atlanta Man Offers Free Showers, Laundry Services to Homeless People – 95.5 WSB

ATLANTA — A metro Atlanta man is doing what he can to help homeless residents. For the past two years, he’s provided a trailer with showers and now offers free laundry service.

Along Pratt Street on the grounds of Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta, it’s hard to miss the big yellow school bus and small trailer.

Myron Jackson says that after visiting them both, he feels like a new man.

“Yes, yes, I feel uplifted,” Jackson said.

The bus carries a row of washing machines on one side of the aisle, tumble dryers on the other, and Nicky Crawford.

“Have you ever imagined that you would be running a laundromat?” Berndt Petersen, Channel 2 request.

“No, not at all. When they come here, I consider them my guests,” Crawford said.

Crawford is the co-founder of the Flowing With Blessings Foundation. Twice a week, Grady Memorial Hospital allows Crawford and his volunteers to come and offer free showers and now free laundry services to homeless residents.

Channel 2 Action News first introduced you to Nicky and his wife Deborah Crawford two years ago when they moved into the trailer with showers.

A few weeks ago they added the laundry bus.

“There are no coins or credit cards. You just put it in, press the start button and let it go,” said Nicky Crawford.

Jackson says that kind of compassion is truly a blessing.

“That’s what I’m talking about. It’s God’s work. It has to be God,” Jackson said.

“I don’t know them. I learn their names over time because they come back. But it doesn’t matter. They’re still human,” Nicky Crawford said.
