Child arrested and accused of stealing jewelry and vandalizing a Connecticut cemetery – NBC Connecticut

Police said the young suspect was still at the cemetery and had found a piece of jewelry from an unknown gravesite.

State police are investigating ongoing acts of vandalism at Holy Cross Cemetery on Maple Street in Killingly and said state police and Killingly police officers responded Sunday after someone noticed several gravesites had been damaged.

They said the suspect was still at the cemetery wearing a piece of jewelry that came from an unknown gravesite.

Police are desperately trying to locate the owner or his family to return the property.

The suspect was arrested and charged with second-degree trespassing, first-degree criminal damage, sixth-degree theft, second-degree breach of peace, and disturbing a cemetery.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Willimantic Juvenile Court.
