Mitchell woman to receive probation after WING Drug Task Force investigation in 2023

A Mitchell woman who was the target of a WING Drug Task Force investigation in early 2023 has avoided further prison time following a verdict on Tuesday.

Miranda Chalupa, 42, was arrested earlier this year following a controlled buy in which she sold methamphetamine to a CI working for the task force.

She finally pleaded no contest to the Class 2 felony charge in May and was back in court this week, joining District Judge Leo Dobrovolny.

She could have faced a prison sentence of between one and 50 years, but she was shown leniency and received an 18-month suspended sentence instead of a prison sentence.
