Oklahoma Highway Patrol alerts public to missing woman

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has notified the public of a woman who disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Harmoni Gail Jacks, 24, was last seen around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning. She drove from Pocola to the Greenwood area, according to OSBI spokesman Hunter McKee.Jacks was driving a red 2012 Nissan Altima with Oklahoma license plate JYD 879. The investigation into the disappearance lasted several weeks. House Bill 1077 requires the Department of Public Safety to develop and implement a system for seriously missing adults, people between the ages of 18 and 59 whose whereabouts are unknown and who are believed to have been abducted. When a Kasey Alert is activated, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol issues the alert on behalf of a local law enforcement agency and mails out a flyer with available relevant information about the seriously missing person. This information may include the person’s picture, a description of the person, their last known whereabouts, and possible people or vehicles they may be in.

Arkoma investigation

On Tuesday morning, numerous police vehicles were spotted in front of a house in Arkoma.

Their presence is “related” to the search for Jacks, said Arkoma Police Chief Michael Ivy.

Among those seen at the home were vehicles from the OSBI, Arkoma Police, crime scene investigators and the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office.

Kasey Alarm

The information about Jacks was released in a “Kasey Alert.”

The Kasey Alert System, which went into effect on November 1 and was established by House Bill 1077, is named after Kasey Russell, a 29-year-old Cherokee citizen who disappeared in 2016. It took several weeks for the investigation into the disappearance to begin.

House Bill 1077 requires the Department of Public Safety to develop and implement a system for seriously missing adults. A seriously missing person is someone between the ages of 18 and 59 whose whereabouts are unknown and who is believed to have been abducted.
