Shirtless man arrested after walking onto tarmac at LAX airport

A shirtless man was filmed fleeing from police on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday.

The bizarre incident occurred at about 6 a.m. when a man in Terminal 4 experienced a “mental health crisis,” according to airport officials.

At one point, he became “angry” and ran onto the airfield, which provoked a response from officers of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The video shows the man, who left his shirt behind for unknown reasons, running, closely followed by an LAPD officer.

“In their attempt to apprehend the suspect, force was used,” said a statement from Los Angeles Airport Police spokeswoman Karla Rodriguez.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was arrested for assault on a police officer and then taken to a nearby hospital for psychiatric evaluation, Rodriguez said.

No further information was provided.
