Missing Nebraska teenager found dead in Platte River

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) – A missing 17-year-old Fremont boy was found dead in the Platte River Thursday.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said authorities found Jackson Potter’s body in the river about two miles east of the Highway 64 bridge.

According to the sheriff’s office, Potter disappeared around 9 p.m. on June 30 after wading into the Platte River.

Several agencies assisted in the search for the missing teenager, including the Nebraska State Patrol and the Omaha Police Department.

Authorities used the Omaha Police Department helicopter, several drones and boats in the search.

“Our sincere condolences go out to Mr. Potter’s family and we would like to thank every agency and person who assisted in this search,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
