Justice Department investigates fatal police-involved shooting in Downey

The Justice Department is investigating the circumstances of a fatal shooting involving a police officer on Saturday evening.

According to a statement from Downey Police, officers received a call about a disturbance in the 7100 block of Stewart and Gray Road around 6:15 p.m.


“Officers arrived on scene and during their investigation an officer-involved shooting occurred,” Downey police said. “A male suspect was shot and succumbed to his injuries.”

His identity was not immediately released and no officer was injured in the incident, authorities added.
