78-year-old killed in ATV accident in Saulda County

Virginia State Police have released the identity of the person killed in the fatal March 4 car crash on Route 39 in Bath County.

Saluda County, South Carolina (WJBF) – The Saluda County Coroner’s Office responded to a call from the emergency department at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, South Carolina, on Tuesday.

The call was about a fatality related to a collision between an off-road vehicle (RTV) and a large Ford pickup truck in Saluda County.

The accident occurred on June 26 at around 10:30 a.m. just outside the city limits of Saluda on Highway 378 / Columbia Highway near Barr Woods Road.

The driver of the RTV was taken to Self Regional Healthcare but died shortly after arrival.

Coroner Keith Turner identified the driver as 78-year-old Warren Butler Sr.

An autopsy has been scheduled as the collision and death are being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Saluda County Coroner’s Office.
