Man arrested after allegedly posting threatening messages on Facebook

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – A man is charged with committing a terrorist act after police say he posted threatening messages on social media that caused Memphis residents to fear for their safety.

On June 21, a man nicknamed “Huncho Cinco” posted on Facebook that he was going to “make a zeek” (referring to a shooting in 2022) and “put a f*ck on anything and anyone that moves.”

One of the threatening messages that MPD said came from Derrick White.

The man who made these threats was later identified as 24-year-old Derrick White.

After the post was published, White posted a story on Facebook saying his first stop would be Smokey City and attached a photo of an unknown suspect dressed in black carrying a black handgun with a loaded magazine.

White’s posts were shared on numerous social media platforms, resulting in Memphis residents calling and visiting Memphis Police Departments to tell officers about the posts and tell them of their fears for their safety.

Based on White’s social media posts on Facebook and the current arrest warrant for a violent crime, the police report said the MPD’s Organized Crime Unit took action to arrest him.
