NOPD investigates murder case in the eighth district

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours today (June 22, 2024) in the 600 block of Bourbon Street that left one victim dead.

At approximately 4:07 a.m., NOPD officers responded to a call of a shooting at the intersection of Toulouse and Bourbon Streets. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators are currently gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident and a motive. Additional details are not available at this time. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and the official cause of death.
